Good morning, Justin!
Fall is officially here—even if Texas is keeping things toasty with highs in the low 90s and lows in the 70s—but the Rangers have been turning up the heat on the diamond. After ripping off wins over the Brewers and coming back to beat the Mets 3-2, they suffered a tough 5-2 extra-innings loss Sunday. Despite the hiccup, things are still rolling—don’t forget, Sugar Skull Bobblehead Giveaway Day is coming up on Sept. 20 for the first 15,000 fans.
THE DIGEST

Early rendering of the new Justin Dream Sports Complex (KemperSports)
Big News for Justin Families: The Dream Complex is Coming
The City of Justin has announced a major investment in recreation that’s set to change the game for local families. At the center of it all is the Justin Dream Complex, a brand-new, 137-acre sports destination located off FM 407 inside Justin city limits. The complex is designed to serve athletes, families, and the wider community.
The project is a partnership between the City of Justin, KemperSports, and Keep Calm and Baseball On (KC&BO). Together, they’ll bring in new facilities, programs, and long-term management to make sure the complex becomes a true community hub.
What to Expect:
Up to 12 turf baseball and softball fields for youth through high school
An indoor training center with turf for soccer, football, and lacrosse
Indoor baseball/softball infields, batting cages, and a sports performance space
In addition, KemperSports will take over Community Park operations starting January 1, 2026, investing $100,000 in improvements. The city is also rolling out JRec, a new recreation program offering skill-based activities for all ages and abilities.
City Manager Jarrod Greenwood said the Dream Complex will be “a hub for families, athletes, and visitors—driving growth while strengthening the fabric of our community.” Mayor James Clark added that “we’re building a better Justin, one that puts our people first.”
Together, the Dream Complex, Community Park upgrades, and JRec represent a big step toward a more vibrant, connected, and family-friendly future in Justin.
LOCAL BUSINESS
MyLan Expands to Justin
A local favorite is growing again! MyLan Bistro, owned by Trang Do and Michael Bui, is opening its fourth location right here in Justin. The grand opening is set for Tuesday, September 24 at 10:30 a.m., complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebration continues on Saturday, September 27 at 9:30 a.m., when the community will be treated to a traditional Dragon Dance and DJ entertainment.
Trang and Michael are no strangers to hard work in the kitchen. Since opening their first restaurant in Haltom City back in 1996, they’ve made quality and consistency their priority. “Whenever we open a new location, we cook ourselves for the first year or two,” Trang explained, “so customers know they’re getting the best food, made exactly how it should be.”
That hands-on care has built a loyal following. During our visit, it was clear how many regulars know the couple by name — and how sincerely Trang and Michael greet their customers. The atmosphere at MyLan is warm and welcoming, with staff who make diners feel like part of the family.
The Justin location will seat about 60 guests across 14 tables and includes a pickup window for call-in orders which is especially helpful for families: “When you’ve got kids in the car, it’s hard to go inside. This way, people can just grab their food and go.”
With Justin’s rapid growth, the anticipation has been building for months. “Every day people stop by asking if we’re open yet,” Trang said with a smile. “We’re excited to finally welcome everyone in.”
📍 Location: MyLan Bistro, 1101 FM156 unit #11, Justin TX
From the ribbon cutting to the Dragon Dance, MyLan’s arrival promises to be one of Justin’s most exciting openings of the year.

LOCAL HISTORY

Justin Day is Official!
On September 11, 2025, the Justin City Council passed Resolution 781-25, officially declaring October 4th as “Justin Day.”
So, what’s Justin Day all about? It’s a chance to celebrate the history of how our town got its name. Back in 1887, things didn’t go quite right the first time…
When the state appointed our first postmaster on January 25, 1887, the paperwork accidentally listed the town as “Justine.” The typo stuck, and even the next postmaster in May 1887 carried the title “Postmaster of Justine.”
Finally, on October 4, 1887, the error was corrected, and Justin officially became Justin. That’s the milestone we’ll now celebrate each year!
📜 Timeline of Events
January 25, 1887 – Thomas J. Wheeler sworn in as Postmaster of Justine
May 2, 1887 – John W. Berry sworn in as Postmaster of Justine
October 4, 1887 – John W. Berry sworn in as Postmaster of Justin
And now, starting this year, Justin Day will be celebrated during the Layne Wilkerson Fish Fry each October. A little history, a lot of community, and plenty of fried catfish—sounds like a perfect tradition!
Thanks for catching up with us! We hope you have a fantastic week, and we’d love to hear from you—send your event tips, business highlights, or just a friendly hello to [email protected].
