Good morning, Justin and neighbors!
Rise, shine, and beware the coffee pot… it may be brewing something wicked! The pumpkins are plotting, the skeletons are stretching their bony little legs, and somewhere out there, a kid is already negotiating how many pieces of Halloween candy count as breakfast. Honestly, we’re not here to judge.
The spooky season is creeping along, but around Justin, the real magic is happening right here in our own backyard. So shake off those cobwebs, give Monday morning your best witchy cackle, and let’s see what’s stirring around town. We’ve gathered the local happenings, neighborhood news, and a few things worth crawling out of bed for.
Consider this your official morning boo-lletin. Now grab your coffee before a ghost does!
THE DIGEST
This Week in Movie History: From Blockbuster to Boogeyman
Before we could watch just about anything with the click of a button, movie night meant piling into the car and heading to Blockbuster. The first store opened in Dallas on October 19, 1985, and suddenly picking a movie became a family event of its own. You wandered the aisles, argued over what to rent, and prayed somebody hadn't grabbed the last copy. And if you forgot to rewind? Well, you knew who you were.
A few days later in our little history roundup, October 25 marks the anniversary of the original Halloween hitting theaters in 1978. Michael Myers made his big-screen debut, and let's just say he wasn't exactly the kind of neighbor you'd invite over for pumpkin pie. The movie became a horror classic and helped make a quiet suburban street feel a whole lot creepier after dark.
Now we're curious: Did you have a favorite Blockbuster in Denton County? And what's the one scary movie you absolutely will not watch alone?
DO SOME GOOD JUSTIN
Cruisin’ in Justin is back October 24, and it’s bringing a chance to spread a little Christmas cheer!
Whether you’re decorating a creative ride and joining the parade or finding a spot along the route to wave as the vehicles roll through town, everyone can be part of the fun.
But here’s how you can make the day even more meaningful: bring a new toy to donate and help bring Christmas smiles to children in our area!
Round up the family, show off your hometown spirit, cheer on the participants, and help make the holidays a little brighter for a local child. It’s a fun way to enjoy Justin’s community spirit while doing a little good along the way.
Because a great parade is fun, but helping put a smile on a child’s face? That’s what makes it extra special.
DOCTOR’S CORNER

Dr. Syed
When Your Doctor Knows Your Story
One of the things I love most about primary care is that the visit in front of me is rarely the whole story.
A child may come in for a cough, but the conversation turns to sleep, school, nutrition, or a parent’s concern about development. An adult may schedule an appointment for headaches and mention, almost as an afterthought, that they have not had a physical in years.
Those moments matter.
I don’t want healthcare to be a series of disconnected visits where we fix today’s problem and send you on your way. I believe good primary care means understanding the bigger picture—and having a relationship that continues long after the immediate problem is gone.
That is one reason I wanted Justin Primary & Pediatric Care to care for the entire family.
There is something powerful about knowing the family history because you actually know the family. About caring for a child and also understanding what their parents are managing. About being there for the routine checkup, the unexpected illness, the new diagnosis, and the questions that come in between.
Of course, medicine still has to be efficient. Patients need appointments when they are sick, answers to messages, referrals, testing, and timely follow-up.
But efficiency should support the relationship—not replace it.
My goal for JPPC is to build a practice where you do not feel like you have to start your story over every time you need care.
I want us to know the story.
And then, over the years, I want us to become part of it.

BUSINESS BUZZ

Timberbrook Crossing
Timberbrook Crossing Is Getting New Neighbors!
Timberbrook Crossing continues to grow, and the businesses already open are getting some new neighbors!
The development is already home to The Academy Childcare, which opened in November 2025, along with Ignite Chiropractic and Justin Primary & Pediatric Care, both of which opened in July 2026.
Coming up next, The Hive is making progress toward a targeted January 2027 opening. The business offers drop-in care, Mother’s Day Out, camps and birthday parties.
Timberbrook Dental is also planning to join the mix, with hopes of opening to the public in January as well.
And there’s more potential growth on the horizon! Phase 2 will focus on the western side of Timberbrook Parkway, where approximately 7.5 acres are planned for future development. The developer is optimistic about reaching an agreement with a potential tenant soon, so we may have more news to share before long.
We’ll keep you posted as things come together. It looks like Timberbrook Crossing still has room for a little more growth!

HISTORY

Ullrson Demori
Spooky Stories: Something in the Tree Line
Our Spooky Stories series continues with a Texas ranch, generations of family history, and a tale that might make you think twice before wandering into the woods after dark. Author Ullrson Demori has spent most of his life on his family’s ranch near Drop Creek, where he says he’s encountered creatures he believes may be Dogmen. His experiences inspired Welcome to Weird Sh*t, Texas: A True Account from Dogman Ranch. (Signed copies available at The Texas Patina)
We're taking a closer look at the stories behind the book and the unusual encounters Demori says he experienced firsthand. Are they unexplained encounters, something misunderstood, or a mystery still waiting for answers? We'll let you decide!
Have a spooky story of your own? We'd love to hear it! Whether you've experienced something you can't explain, heard a local legend that's been passed down for generations, or know a North Texas author with a story worth sharing, send it our way. We're always on the lookout for more stories to feature in The Justin Journal.
Have a great week Justin and Neighbors!
